Getting Started
MetaStock for Java is an easy-to-use charting applet. You can display charts of all U.S. stocks, indices, and mutual funds. Many of the most popular technical analysis indicators can also be plotted.
MetaStock for Java has its roots from a long line of full-featured charting analysis tools from Equis International. Be sure to check out the complete MetaStock family of charting software.
QuickStart Tips
If you feel comfortable with charting and you want to get started fast, here are a few tips to get you going. For more details, click the links on the navigation menu to the left.
- Type a stock , mutual fund, or index ticker symbol in the first box from the top-left and click the Refresh button to display a chart..
- Change the line style of the security by choosing Bars, Candlesticks, or Line in the second box from the top-left and click the Refresh button
- Choose the desired indicator in the third box from the top-left. Enter the required parameters in the fourth (or fifth) box from the left. Click the Refresh button.
- Draw trendlines by positioning the mouse pointer at a starting point on the chart. Click and hold the left mouse button while moving the mouse pointer to an ending point. The trendline will stretch as you move the mouse. Release the left mouse button to anchor the trendline.
- Zoom-in on more recent data by repeatedly clicking the In button near the bottom-right corner. Zoom-out on more historical data by repeatedly click the Out button. Quickly display all data by clicking the All button.
- Display Crosshairs by positiong the mouse pointer inside the chart and holding down the Shift key.
- Change the periodicity of the chart, by choosing daily, weekly, or monthly from the box in the bottom-right corner.
- Display news on the current stock ticker symbol by clicking the News button.
